Inside the Mission of THE WELL to Transform Wellness
A Q&A with the Founders of THE WELL on Building a Global Movement in Whole-Person Health
Estimated Read Time: 3 Minutes
As more people prioritize holistic health, a new era of wellness is emerging, one that seamlessly integrates physical, mental, and spiritual well-being into everyday life. At the forefront of this movement is THE WELL, a wellness destination founded by Rebecca Parekh, Sarrah Hallock, and Kane Sarhan. The concept draws on ancient healing traditions and modern medicine, aiming to simplify and unify the wellness experience for individuals seeking a healthier lifestyle.
Since opening their flagship location in New York City in 2019, THE WELL has grown into a premier wellness destination, offering members a wide array of services that cater to whole-person care. From functional medicine and energy healing to mindfulness and fitness programs, THE WELL combines diverse treatments under one roof, creating an environment where wellness feels accessible and transformative. With ambitious plans for global expansion, the founders are on a mission to bring this model to cities around the world.
In this Q&A, we dive into the story behind THE WELL, the philosophy driving their unique service offerings, and the founders’ vision for the future of wellness.
Q: How did the concept of THE WELL come to be?
Rebecca Parekh: Inspired by the model of destination wellness and other ancient healing traditions from around the world, THE WELL emerged from a desire to simplify the fragmented wellness experience people face and help make wellness part of everyday life.
My CoFounders and I embarked on a venture to create a space that seamlessly integrates all aspects of wellbeing — physical, mental, and spiritual — under one roof. Recognizing the need for whole-person care in a bustling city like New York, we opened our doors in 2019 as a transformative, first-of-its-kind wellness club. Now we are bringing this same experience to places all around the world.
Beyond our best-in-class spa and medical services, robust Mindful Movement and Fitness program, organic cafe and wellness shop, we strive to foster a strong sense of community through our Membership program. We believe this integrated and holistic approach is the future of healthcare.
Q: How did you build your service offering?
Sarrah Hallock: We take a personalized approach because we know wellness isn’t one-size-fits-all.
We work with our team of expert doctors and practitioners, led by our Chief Medical Officer, Dr Frank Lipman, to curate a collection of East-meets-West treatments, integrating ancient healing with modern medicine. We offer a range of services from Functional Medicine, vitamin IV therapy and hormonal health treatments to Chinese medicine and vibrational energy healing. We also have a Mindful Movement program with over 50 classes per week including yoga, high intensity training, pilates, QiGong and meditation.
Each of our services supports whole-person care and promotes physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
Q: What are your expansion plans for 2025 and beyond?
Kane Sarhan: Our vision is rapidly expanding, with plans for over 10 new locations and more than one million square feet of development in the next five years. In 2025, we will launch THE WELL Bay Harbor Islands in Miami, our most ambitious project to date. A place where people can live, work and play in complete wellness, THE WELL Bay Harbor Islands will feature 66 bespoke condominiums, over 22,000 square feet of wellness amenities — including Miami’s first Roman bath-style caldarium — and over 93,000 square feet of office space.
Further, THE WELL is slated to expand overseas, with plans to open its first European location in 2027. Plus, with plans to enter key markets such as London, LA, Chicago, Dallas and Aspen over the next five years, we are excited to incorporate whole-person care into people’s every day while building a community of wellness-focused individuals all over the world.
